Tennessee Curriculum Center's first Boot Camp at Maryville College was featured on WBIR-TV in Knoxville, while The Daily Times in Blount County interviewed its participants and organizers.
On July 11-15, eighty mathematics, English/language arts and science teachers converged at Maryville College in East Tennessee for five days of resource building and online research into best practices. Their efforts resulted in over 2000 submitted online resources for Tennessee teachers, all aligned to Tennessee and Common Core State Standards.
The resources will be posted on the Tennessee Curriculum Center web site, and is a first step towards a comprehensive professional learning repository that is created, reviewed and maintained by Tennessee teachers.
Linda Jordan, Ed.S., Science Coordinator at the Tennessee Department of Education and Terry Simpson, Director of Education at Maryville College organized the Boot Camp, which was facilitated by Richard Audet, Ed.D., Tammy Jones and Barbara Williams and assisted by professors from Maryville College and Tennessee Wesleyan College in nearby Athens.
